NIRAM ART AWARDS 2011 
The third edition of the Spanish Cultural Awards Niram Art, given away each year by the Publishing House and Magazine Niram Art, took place last Saturday at the Army Cultural Centre in Madrid. The French writer Michel Houellebecq received the Grand Niram Art Prize for literary achievements, the Mihail Sebastian Trophy. “The first award I received in my life bore the name of the Jewish-Romanian poet Tristan Tzara and it is a great joy for me to receive tonight an award named after another great Jewish-Romanian writer”, said Michel Houllebecq. During the ceremony, the Publishing House Niram Art presented the book “Michel Houellebecq: Love and Other Myths”, a study on the French writer’s work by several Spanish writers. Michel Houellebecq will spend a week in Madrid, on the invitation of Niram Art Publishing House. On Sunday, he had a meeting with the Spanish public in Espacio Niram Cultural Café and on Thursday, the 20th of December, he will meet with students at the Complutense University in Madrid. The Spanish poet and former Minister of Culture, Cesar Antonio Molina was awarded the Niram Art – Tristan Tzara Award for poetry, for his book “The End of Finisterre”. A study on his poetry was also launched in the same evening. The Trophy was received in his name by his wife, the writer and journalist Mercedes Monmany. The Ambroise Vollard Award for cultural promotion recognised the activity of the European Generation Foundation and its founder, the ex-President of Romania, Emil Constantinescu. The Manuscript Award was awarded to Spanish writer Diego Vadillo Lopez, for his upcoming novel "Shopping at Tzara". The novel will be published in 2012 by the Niram Art Publishing House. Among the awardees, there were also writers Stefan Mitroi and Eran Eisen. This year, the Fine Arts Award was replaced by a tribute to the life and work of painter Baruch Elron (1934-2006), who is considered one of the most important contemporary painters of Israel. During the ceremony, the book “Baruch Elron”, a thorough study on the complex artistic world of the painter, written by the Spanish writer Héctor Martinez Sanz, was presented to the public. His works are present in numerous museums around the world and he was also the President of the Union of Israeli Artists. This is the first presentation of Elron’s work in Spain. The event was opened by José Antonio Jiménez de las Heras, the Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Journalism, by the general Javier Baredo de Valenzuela and the director of the Publishing House, Miguel Angel Galan Segovia. The ceremony was presented by Fabianni Belemuski, the director of the Niram Art Magazine.

Diego Vadillo López Sábado 17 de diciembre, tuvo lugar en el Centro Cultural de los Ejércitos, la gala de entrega de los Premios Niram Art 2011. El acto ha sido organizado por la Editorial Niram Art. El escritor francés Michel Houellebecq ha sido distinguido con el Gran Premio Niram Art de Literatura, el galardón Mihail Sebastián en reconocimiento a su obra. A la invitación de la editorial española, el escritor pasará una semana en nuestro país. El participará a reuniones y encuentros con los lectores, el domingo 18 de diciembre en Espacio Niram y el martes 20 de diciembre, en la Facultad de Ciencias de la Información de la Universidad Complutense. César Antonio Molina recibió el Gran Premio Niram Art de Poesía, el galardón Tristán Tzara por su libro El fin de Finisterre. El Trofeo ha sido recibido en su nombre por su mujer, la escritora y periodista Mercedes Monmany. Asimismo, a Emil Constantinescu, presidente de Rumanía 1996 – 2000, se le ha otorgado el Gran Premio Niram Art, el galardón Ambroise Vollard, en reconocimiento a la actividad de la Fundación Generación Europea, de la cual es fundador y que tiene entre sus objetivos la formación de una conciencia cívica y ética de la integración europea.
Michel Houellebecq y César Antonio Molina también han sido obsequiados con un premio menos común. Durante la ceremonia tuvo lugar la presentación de los libros César Antonio Molina “Viajes al fin de Finisterre” y “Michel Houellebecq: amor y otros mitos”, coordinado por Fabianni Belemuski. Los ensayos acercan al público a las obras de los dos grandes escritores premiados. |
